After completing my first triathlon, I decided I was hooked and wanting to do more. I decided it was time to set new goals. I have decided I would like to complete three more sprint triathlons, then move to the olyimpic length triathlons. Ultimately I would like to prepare to complete a Half-Ironman next september or October of 2009. That is my ultimate goal for triathlons.
For my next sprint triathlon, I woul dlike to cut 15 minutes off my overall time.

The day arrived (Triathlon)
Yesterday morning was the day of the big event. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. in order to load up my gear and drive over to the University of Arizona were the event was being held. Check in was at 5 a.m. and everyone had to check in at that time regardless of the wave you were scheduled to be in. I was in the first wave which meant i went first with the swim at 6:30 a.m. It was a really chilly morning about 45 degrees, which is rare for Tucson this time of year.
I ended up beating all three of my goals for the event. I did finish, I did not come in last place, and I finished in less than 2 hours.
It was a really fun event and I enjoyed it all. Kellie woke the kids up early to come and cheer me on during the bike and running legs of the event. It was fun to see them at the finish line. Kellie took some pictures which are attached to this post. I would highly recommend this for everyone. I am hooked. The next event I will enter in March 15, 2009. My goal is to cut 15 minutes off of my time from yesterday.

1 Week To Go
I have a little less than on weeks to go. I went for a 7 mile jog today and feel pretty good about being ready for this weekend. Tomorrow will be a 15 mile bike ride and then it will be easy walks the rest of the week.
I will have to say. A heart rate monitor makes the biggest difference. I feel this is a must have tool in order to accomplish your weight loss and fitness goals. I use a POLAR product. After having researched all the various brands out there, I found the POLAR to be the best and offers the most options whether for a a simple walk or to prepare you for a sporting event.

2 weeks away
As a few people know, I am two weeks away from my first triathlon. I have been training hard and getting a good feel for the various types of equipment, clothes, and accessories I will need to complete the race.
A little over a year ago, I told my wife I was going to do a triathlon, and while always supportive, you could hear the "yeah right" in her voice. It is now here.
I have set three goals for myself during this triathlon. 1. Just to finish without having to end up at TMC with a heart attack. 2. Do not come in last place, even if I have to tackle that 90 year old lady close to the finish line if necessary. 3. Finish in less that 2 hours.
Should be interesting!
